The Eastern Bays Songbird Project: A Community Driven Pest Control Project

 

 

Established in early 2017, we have begun an ambitious programme of trap handouts across the area. With support from Auckland Council and Orakei Local Board, we have now distributed 550 rat traps and 160 possum traps, as well as establishing systems to monitor our results and support trappers. Our target is to have one rat trap in every 4th household - around 4000! I'll describe our journey so far and the lessons we have learned.
