Tell us about your own hard-won victories - in sports, school, your personal life or anywhere else. What did you achieve? How did you prepare? What did your success mean to you at the time - and what does it mean to you now? What advice do you have for people who want to follow in your footsteps, but who are just starting to work toward that goal?
These are thoughts given to students to consider after a hard year of study and success. When I consider Rotary and what we have achieved over the last year there are many highlights. More importantly we could not have done anything without the work and contribution of you all. The group of Directors that I have had over the year have been absolutely fantastic and certainly upheld my philosophies of "Actions of Choice Inspires Communities". In considering changeover and what is ahead, the club is in a healthy space, and when we met with Robyn's new Directors recently the enthusiasm to be involved was really obvious. It will be with some sadness that I will handover, and yet equally there are many other avenues that I can support the club and Rotary District.
As my last farewell note I do have to applaud Peter W. in producing week on week a fantastic Bulletin which we are all proud of. Peter is going to continue next year and we look forward to reading this as a must read each week when it arrives in our mailbox.
Although another relatively small group, (23 members and 2 guests), it was great to see a few faces who we hadn't seen for a few weeks and all enjoyed a lively and entertaining meeting.
President Allan presided over his last meeting and he was very pleased to be able to reiterate that our next meeting, (Change-Over), is sold-out with 91 members and guests registered. If you are one of the few who haven't responded, but would like to attend, do get in-touch with Brian or Robyn, just in-case there are any late cancellations and we are able to accommodate late starters!
Our Guest Speaker at the meeting was Dr. Julie Lincoln who originally spoke to the club in 2015. Julie (a Kiwi), primarily works for Millenium Relief and Development Society, (MRDS), as a Health and Development Consultant in Nepal. When time allows she also works for many other NGO's in Nepal where she has been based for the last 13 years. Nepal is a relatively small country, approximately the same size as New Zealand's South Island and it is home to 25 million Nepalese, made up of 125 Ethnic Groups who speak 125 different languages.
The work undertaken by MRDS is wide and varied and very much needed. Some of the projects undertaken includes; assisting to implement ODF areas, (Open Defication Free), Children Hygene Camps, Clean Water Systems, Disaster Relief & Development, to name but a few. When needed, MRDS can mobilize more than 2,000 volunteers, as was the case following the last major earthquake in April 2015.
It was an excellent presentation and we look forward to welcoming Julie back again at sometime in the future.

Hi, this week I was doing the last truffles for next Friday and it was a lot of time. Also the last weekend I had an activity with Discovery for kids. This weekend Blair, Heather and I went to have Vietnamese food, and it was actually good.
I’m having fun doing everything in New Zealand!
This is a picture of Gonzo's Truffles in production. These will be available for pick-up, (for those who have pre-ordered), at Change-over on Friday night. They are looking great Gonzo.
If you are available, can we suggest that you diary Sunday 30th June 2019 1.30 pm, Willow Park Christian Park Centre, Eastern Beach
Our very own Ben Ng Wai-Shing will be speaking at RYLA, which starts on 29 June and ends on 5th of July. All members are welcome, especially those who have not been involved with RYLA. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the highly successful leadership program endorsed by many corporate sponsors.
Did you join Rotary to do good things in the community?
You can help or join in all projects (whatever the committee), just contact the committee director and/or project team leader. In most cases, you can include family and friends.
