Our Anzac breakfast was a great event full of remembrance and enjoyed by the 75 who attended. It was also a pleasure to once again have an event where both the St Johns team were there alongside the Remuera R.C. Many thanks to Michele and certainly there were also thoughts of Sri Lanka and the issues they are currently experiencing.
Sunday 5th May is Mother’s Day so make sure she is looked after.
On May 2nd we host Auckland East R.C. for our annual debate This is another evening meeting and I look forward to you all being there and cheering on our Angus and his team. The moot is “We should keep Eden Park”. It will be a night of laughs and may the best team win. (St Johns of course). On that same evening we are presenting the cheque to KidsCan as part of the profit from our Golf Tournament that raised more than $34,000 on the day. A lot of fun on the day and a fantastic result.
As President Allan has mentioned above, a very successful breakfast last Thursday and one that is becoming a highlight on the St. Johns Rotary Calendar. Many thanks to all who attended.

My apologies to all readers for no comment from me in the last Bulletin - I was away having a holiday with my host family on Great Barrier Island.
I went with my second host family, (Heather and Blair Peach), to Great Barrier and we had beautiful holidays. We went in a small airplane and we did kayaking, walking and fishing, it was an amazing time in New Zealand.
This sounds like a fun day being run by our friends at Mt Eden Rotary Club. Do get down to Mt Eden Village on May the 4th and join in the fun if you have an opportunity!
The Rotary Clubs of Mt Eden and Epsom have invited us to join them at the Movies and help raise funds for Rotary Foundation and Rotary Programmes - Interested? See flyer below for full details.
A young Scottish lad and lass were sitting on a low stone wall, holding hands, gazing out over the loch. For several minutes they sat silently. Then finally the girl looked at the boy. “A penny for your thoughts, Angus,” she said. “Well, uh, I was thinkin.. perhaps it’s aboot time for a wee kiss.” The girl blushed, then leaned over and kissed him lightly on the cheek. Then he blushed. The two turned once again to gaze out over the loch. Minutes passed and the girl spoke again. “Another penny for your thoughts, Angus?” “Well, uh, I was thinkin’ perhaps it’s noo aboot time for a wee cuddle.” The girl blushed, then leaned over and cuddled him for a few seconds. Then he blushed. And the two turned once again to gaze out over the loch. After a while, she again said, “Another penny for your thoughts, Angus.” “Well, uh, I was thinkin’ perhaps it’s aboot time you let me put my hand on your leg.” The girl blushed, then took his hand and put it on her knee. Then he blushed. Then the two turned once again to gaze out over the loch before the girl spoke again. “Another penny for your thoughts, Angus.” The young man glanced down with a furled brow. “Well, noo,” he said, ‘my thoughts are a wee bit more serious this time.’ “Really?” said the lass in a whisper, filled with anticipation. “Aye,” said the lad, nodding. The girl looked away in shyness, began to blush, and bit her lip in anticipation of the ultimate request. Then he said,
“Dae ye nae think it’s aboot time ye paid me the first three pennies?”
