Last week our current Co-Presidents, and last year’s Co-Presidents, were either incapacitated or away from Auckland for last weeks meeting.  This required the Board to call on Past President Hugh to chair the meeting.  Many thanks for standing up Hugh, and as we would expect, a well run meeting.

Hugh thanked all members for their support of the collection at New World last week for the GI CAB Food bank – another excellent orchestrated event.

Those Directors present were each asked for a brief report on recent and or past activity;

Liz – Community; A very successful Tree Planting undertaken in conjunction with Trees For Survival and Churchill Park School.

Peter B – Environment; Apirana Reserve has received a complete make-over of the land yet to be planted.  Kiwi Rail (KR) provided a rather large digger (and driver), to level and prepare the area from where our last working bee ended up the hill, to the tunnel entry,  an area extending in excess of 200 meters.  This will allow for future plantings to be undertaken much sooner than originally anticipated.   A huge thanks to KR and to members of our club who coordinated the work required with KR.

Beryl – Membership:  prior to the club meeting on the 18th Beryl met with her team to discuss plans on how to get younger folk to join our club.  An enthusiastic team with plenty of good ideas raised and discussed.  Watch this space.

Aubrey - Quiz Night Friday October 14th:  A plea was made to all members to purchase a table and/or individual seats for this key fund-raising event.  Full details have been sent directly to all members, there was also a story in last week’s Bulletin, as there is again in this Bulletin.  Please diary date today and contact Aubrey to book your table.

Following the Director's reports Beryl was invited to introduce Colin to talk about “Club Runner”, (CR), and the three primary Web Sites that we can access, all with the same password.  i.e.
  • Rotary Club of St Johns
  • District 9920
  • Oceana
  • …and the Club Runner App
These three websites and the App. are simple to navigate around and have been designed to be simple tools for all members, to help them get the most out of Rotary, the planning and participating in projects, communicating with other Rotarians, and a very wide range of other Rotary information.

CR also contains individual profiles of all members, but for it to be beneficial to all it is essential that all profiles are current and accompanied by a relatively recent photograph of the member.  St Johns members have not been overly diligent in keeping their profile current and Colin requested that all members take a few minutes to review and update their profile as soon as possible.  If this is not done Colin may well find an appropriate cartoon character to insert in your profile in-lieu of a photo that, ideally, we would like for you to load.
Colin assured the meeting that the websites and CR are easy to navigate and an individual “can’t break them”, so do give it a go and do some surfing to see just how much interesting data is available, and if you get stuck, Colin is only an email or a phone call away and he is more than happy to assist.
Thanks again for your time Colin – good stuff!
